Fish Monitoring - Lake Edward and Lake Albert

LEAF.JPG

Is there enough oxygen in the lakes, rivers and reservoirs to keep fish alive?
Corals and marine fish require very high levels of oxygen concentration. Fish receive oxygen for respiration through their gills so it is very important to regularly test the level of oxygen present in the lakes to ensure that the fish are healthy and receiving enough oxygen.

Climate change increases water temperatures which is a threat to fish species as oxygen levels decrease.

As a citizen, what can you do about it?
Take the challenge and measure the oxygen levels of a lake on a monthly basis uploading your results here. Using a test kit you can measure the level of oxygen to check the health of the fish. If you are in a community group and do not have access to a test kit to monitor the oxygen levels please get in touch: info@netafrica.be
